Mostly to be found alongside steep, current-swept drop-offs.
A rather rare species which occasionally comes into the trade.
Characteristically for the blue-lined or pin-striped surgeonfish are numerous, very small stripes on the dorsal, anal fins and its body.
As other Acanthurus species it requires plenty of swimming space.
