Lethrinus nebulosus inhabited both coral reefs, lagoons, seagrass beds, mangroves and coastal areas with sand and rock. Adult animals are usually found singly or in small schools. Juveniles form large schools in shallow, sheltered sandy areas. Eaten echinoderms, molluscs and crustaceans, but fish are part of the booty pattern. It is often used as a food fish.
