Hypselodoris is a genus of colorful sea slugs.

Hypselodoris violabranchia has a light brown or salmon pink or pale-yellow body with white spots and lines on the dorsum. The mantle with a purple margin.The gills and rhinophores are purple or pink. Hypselodoris violabranchia is commonly known as the Violet Gill Nudibranch. Rhinophores have a basal orange band, then a median purple band. The rhinophore club is purple in colour. The translucent gills are purple edged.

Hypselodoris violabranchia feeds on sponges (appears to feed on a gray-blue sponge).

This species is endemic to Hawaiii.
