Gnatholepis thompsoniis commonly referred to as Goldspot goby. Difficulty in the aquarium: There are no reports available yet that this animal has already been kept in captivity successfully. A aquarium size of at least 150 Liter is recommended.
Western Atlantic: Bermuda, Florida (USA), and the Bahamas to northern South America. Eastern Atlantic: Ascension and St. Helena, Sao Tome Island.
Inhabits open sand, rock, and rubble areas. Often occurs with the bridled goby, Coryphopterus glaucofraenum. Feeds on organisms and organic material by taking sand into its mouth and expelling it through the gill openings, filtering out its food in the process.
