Info
Taeniamia kagoshimana is a very pretty cardinalfish that stands out due to the striped pattern on the sides of the body and the blue lines on the top and bottom of the eyes and in the mouth area.
In the sea, Taeniamia kagoshimana prefers shallow coastal reefs with corals and reef caves, where the small perch hides well protected during the day.
Like all cardinalfish, Taeniamia kagoshimana is mainly nocturnal and hunts for edible zooplankton under the cover of darkness.
This cardinalfish species forms large schools of several hundred individuals of its own species as well as other fish species.
The males are mouthbrooders and rear the fertilized eggs of their offspring in their mouths until they hatch.
