Info

This cardinalfish is not specifically imported, so there is no information or experience of keeping it.
Taeniamia buruensis is nocturnal and would therefore rarely be seen in a saltwater tank anyway, so the perch should remain in the sea.

Etymology:
The genus name “Taeniamia” is a contraction of the Latin noun “taenia”, meaning “ribbon”, and the Greek noun “Amia”, meaning “fish”,
and is often used for the genus of cardinalfish.

Etymology;
The species name “buru” would be chosen because the holotype (Apogon buruensis Bleeker) was collected around Buru Island in Indonesia.
Buru Island belongs to the Moluccas archipelago

Synonyms:
Apogon buruensis Bleeker, 1856 - unaccepted
Archamia buroensis (Bleeker, 1856) - unaccepted (misspelling)
Archamia buruensis (Bleeker, 1856) - unaccepted (Superseded new combination)
