Info

Eviota aquila Greenfield & Jewett, 2014
Dark dwarfgoby

Collected from a surge channel cut well back into the shore. Most of the other collections were taken from rocky and coral areas in waters less than 10 m

Main reference: Greenfield, D.W. and S.L. Jewett, 2014. Two new dwarfgobies from the Western Pacific (Teleostei: Gobiidae: Eviota). Copeia 2014(1):56-62. (Ref. 96083)

Jumping guard
A jumping guard prevents (nocturnal) fish from jumping out.
Wrasses, blennies, hawkfishs and gobies jump out of an unprotected tank in fright if their night rest is disturbed, unfortunately these jumpers are found dried up in the morning on carpets, glass edges or later behind the tank.

A small night light also helps, as it provides the fish with a means of orientation in the dark!
