Captive breeding / propagation

The offspring of Leptoseris incrustans are possible. Unfortunately, the number of offspring is not large enough to cover the demand of the trade. If you are interested in Leptoseris incrustans, please ask your dealer for offspring. If you already own Leptoseris incrustans, try breeding yourself. This will help to improve the availability of offspring in the trade and to conserve natural stocks.

Husbandry

“From Veron, J.E.N. Corals of the World.”
Quelch, 1886

Characters: Colonies are primarily encrusting but may develop broad explanate laminae. These laminae often have radiating ridges. Corallites are small, closely compacted and superficial. The coenosteum commonly has Hydnophora-like monticules. Septo-costae are thin and equal, giving colonies a smooth surface. Columellae are small styles.

Colour: Pale to dark brown or greenish-brown.

Habitat: Shallow reef environments.

Abundance: Uncommon.

Similar species: Leptoseris hawaiiensis , Leptoseris mycetoseroides
