Info

Henricia pumila Eernisse, Strathmann & Strathmann, 2010

Henricia is a large genus of slender-armed sea stars belonging to the family Echinasteridae. It contains about fifty species. The sea stars from this genus are ciliary suspension-feeders, filtering phytoplankton.

The smallest sea star found in the PNW. It has been known for many years but was only described as a separate species in 2010. The female broods her orange eggs by arching her disc around them.
