Pisaster giganteus (Stimpson, 1857)

Pisaster giganteus is a giant sea star, can grow as large as 60 cm in diameter. This species lives along the western coast of North America from Southern California to British Columbia and can be found on rocky shores near the low tide mark.The colour varies from brown to red or purple.

The giant sea star preys on mollusks and barnacles.
