Botryllus schlosseriis commonly referred to as Star ascidian, golden star tunicate. Difficulty in the aquarium: There are no reports available yet that this animal has already been kept in captivity successfully. A aquarium size of at least 100 Liter is recommended. Toxicity: Toxic hazard unknown.
Botryllus schlosseri is an invasive species of ascidian with an almost worldwide range. The zooids, which measure only a few millimeters, form colonies that have a distinct star-shaped arrangement of the individual animals. This arrangement makes it easy to distinguish them from the otherwise similar Botrylloides species. They occur in varying colors.
Not much is known about husbandry, like with other hitchhiking ascidians the tank biology decides if these animals can be kept or not. Special feeding isn't normally practiced.
