The soft coral Lobophytum venustum is relatively common and its colonies can grow quite large, but unfortunately exact size data have not been documented.

Lobophytum venustum has a pronounced "skirt" that makes the edges appear folded, and it can contract into a vase shape.

Larger specimens can have fairly pronounced marginal folds, with the center of the colony being smooth.
