Info

Odontodactylus brevirostris is mottled brown with red and white gryphon appendages and pink uropods.
The mantis shrimp belongs to the so-called smashers, i.e. they smash carapaces and shells of their potential victims.

Odontodactylus brevirostris is a diurnal mantis shrimp that requires gravel with some sand and small stones, in this it builds simple u-shaped burrows,
in which it spends the night and locks itself in.

Co-inhabitants that are not primary to its prey are large snails and large echinoderms, other animals are caught and consumed.

This mantis shrimp is intolerant of changing water parameters or low oxygen levels.

Synonym: Gonodactylus brevirostris Miers, 1884
