This anemone was collected from the Yacht Club of Paranaguá (Paranaguá Bay, Paraná State, Southern Brazil), and described as a new species of sea anemone based on external and internal morphology and the evaluation of mitochondrial DNA data.
These animals were found in Paranaguá Bay on bivalves, barnacles, and artificial substrates, but were not noted as a new species in a previous study.
The specific name paranaensis refers to the Brazilian state of Paraná, the type locality of the species.
Propagation: Cloning
Similar species: This species is partly similar to Diadumene cincta
