Dieser Seestern ist wohl nur für größere Aquarien geeignet. Das größte von mir gefundene exemplar hatte einen durchmesser von 40cm und lebte vor Krk (Kroatien). Die meisten haben sich dort tagsüber unter Steinen aufgehalten.

Erst jetzt fällt mir auf, dass der wissenschaftliche Name falsch ist! Der richtige Name lautet:

Coscinasterias tenuispina

Nicht zu verwechseln mit Marthasterias glacialis (Eisseestern), der ebenfalls ein großer Räuber ist und ähnliche Hälterungsanforderungen stellt, insgesamt aber etwas anspruchsvoller ist.

Zusatz: Mittlerweile hat sich aber gezeigt, dass er sehr wohl andere Seesterne, aber auch Seeigel, Seegurken, Krebstiere, Schnecken und Muscheln angreift und sie frisst. Letztlich ist er also besser in einem reinen Fischbecken aufgehoben.
