Captive breeding / propagation

The offspring of Neoglyphidodon melas are possible. Unfortunately, the number of offspring is not large enough to cover the demand of the trade. If you are interested in Neoglyphidodon melas, please ask your dealer for offspring. If you already own Neoglyphidodon melas, try breeding yourself. This will help to improve the availability of offspring in the trade and to conserve natural stocks.

Info

Aggressive against conspecifics and sometimes even against other fishes, depending on their size.
May grow up to 7" - therfore you should think carefully before you buy this fish. They usually get agressive after a while when they claim the tank as their "stomping ground". May pick on soft-corals.
