Husbandry

Watson & Pöllabauer, 1998

Endemic to New Caledonia where it is restricted to the South Province of the main island of New Caledonia (Grande Terre), and to rivers with ultramafic beds.

Protogobius attiti rrefers areas with gravel and overhanging vegetation in slower places of swift, clear streams; rocks and gravel usually coated with detritus. Dives into the substrate when threatened, with its eyes, mouth and first dorsal fin above the gravel. Feeds mainly on small crustaceans, especially transparent shrimp which are abundant.
