Husbandry

Hoeksema, 2012

Very special thank for the first photo of Sandalolitha boucheti to Dr. Bert W. Hoeksema, Naturalis Biodiversity Center, Leiden.

This mushrom coral was named in honour of Professor Philippe Bouchet, a french biologist and scientist whose primary scientific fields of study are malacology and taxonomy.

The coral can be distinguished from its congeners by dense and thin septa, fine serrated septal dentations, evenly distributed stomata.

Colour: light brown

Classification: Biota > Animalia (Kingdom) > Cnidaria (Phylum) > Anthozoa (Class) > Hexacorallia (Subclass) > Scleractinia (Order) > Fungiidae (Family) > Sandalolitha (Genus) > Sandalolitha boucheti (Species)
