Phyllodesmium parangatum Ortiz & Gosliner, 2003

The name "parangatum" refers to Filipino words "parang gatas" for the milky colour of this sea slug (Gatas = milk).The body can be a translucent white or a milky yellow with a brownish tinge.

The white cerata are curved with white tips.The translucent white rhinophores are short and thick. The oral tentacles are longer than the rhinophores.

This nudibranch is a "solar-powered sea slug" (contains zooxanthellae and use the zooxanthellae of their prey).

Phyllodesmium parangatum is a smaller species belonging to the seas lugs genus Phyllodesmium sea slugs.It growing up to 2,0 cm.

Very similar is Phyllodesmium magnum. This sea slug is a larger species.It growing up to 13,0 cm.

Species of the genus Phyllodesmium are carnivorous and feed on octocorals.
