This small sea hare have a cream coloured body with fine, longitudinal brown lines often decorated with blue and gold ocelli.Stylocheilus striatus feeds on cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) of the genus Lyngbya. This species is primarily nocturnal.

Large numbers of this species often found on the bottom.Stylocheilus striatus releases a purple dye when disturbed.
