Chaetopterus variopedatus (Renier, 1804)

Chaetopterus variopedatus is widely distributed in the world.It grows up to 25 cm in length.The Parchment Worm is a filter feeder and lives in an flexible tube in sandy bottom. Chaetopterus variopedatus is yellowish or greenish white in colour.Adult females becoming pinkish or orange, adult male worms becoming whitish.

If Chaetopterus variopedatus is irritated, it has blue bioluminescence.
