Acanthocardia aculeata (Linnaeus, 1758)

The size of the Large Spiny Cockle is 100mm.On each shell are strong radial ribs and thorns.It lives in fine sand and muddy bottoms, often near seagrass beds to depths of 100 m.

Acanthocardia aculeata is mainly fished and eaten in the Mediterranean.
