Info

(Giard, 1872)

Aplidium elegans is a colonial ascidian whose range extends from the British Isles to the Mediterranean.

The ascidian settles on rocks at depths ranging from 5 to 20 meters.

Two color forms of the sea strawberry are known: a white one and a pink one.

Notable features include strong white pigmentation and
large, conspicuous, pore-like siphons.

The sea strawberry can be confused with the following other ascidians: Botryllus schlosseri, Botrylloides leachii, or Sidnyum elegans.
