Distribution
Indo-West Pacific: Red Sea to the Philippines (but without record from the Persian Gulf), north to southern Japan, and south to northern Australia.
Also reported from New Caledonia.
Recently recorded from Oman and Kuwait.

Biology
Found in coastal waters. Enters freshwaters.
