Info

Epitonium aureomaculatum (Masahito & T. Habe, 1973)

Wentletraps are small shells. The name comes from the vertical ridges on the shell, resembling a spiral staircase. Epitonium aureomaculatum is a predator snail, preying on anemones and live in sandy and muddy sea bottom.

These snails are predators and feed by inserting their proboscis and biting out small pieces of the anemone's tissues. Some species of wentletrap feed on only one species of sea anemone, in other words they are species-specific in terms of their prey.
