Info

%lat is uniformly gray to brown, often with wavy lines on the body.

Suckers or shieldbellies hold on to a rock with their pelvic disk while patiently waiting for suitable sized prey to swim by.
%lat has sensory pores in its head and can sense vibrations when potential food is nearby.
The fish eats by quickly sucking in all the water in front of it, including the prey, and then filters the food out.

Synonym: Neoliparis mucosus (Ayres, 1855) · unaccepted (Subsequent combination)
