Minous coccineus is a small benthic venomous fish found on sandy and muddy bottoms.

A characteristic feature to identify the animal is black spots on the inside of the pectoral fins.

Divers and snorkelers should approach the animal with caution and not touch or accidentally step on it, as the animal has a venomous dorsal spine.

Little else is known about the animal.
