Info
The largest specimen of the widely distributed deep-sea gorgonian Trissopathes pseudotristicha found was 34cm high and about 40cm wide.
Trissopathes pseudotristicha differs morphologically between Trissopathes tetracrada and Trissopathes tristicha (van Pesch) due to the number and arrangement of the lower pinnae on the anterior main pinnae.
Etymology :
The species name "pseudotristich" is derived from the Latin "pseudo" meaning "false" and the suffix "tristicha", in reference to the similarity to Trissopathes tristicha (van Pesch) and the fact that although it appears that there are only three rows of primary pinnae, there are actually four.
