Previously confused with Glossodoris cincta this species is distinguished by details of colouring and internal anatomy as well as DNA sequences from other species of very similar appearance.
Glossodoris andersonae is named after Jennifer Anderson, retired lecturer in the Environmental Studies Department at the University of California Santa Cruz, who is a longtime friend and mentor of the first author.
Known only from the Saudi Arabian Red Sea.
Members of genus Glossoris feed on sponges.
