Notoplax violacea (Quoy & Gaimard, 1835)

Can be found on rocky coasts, under the larger boulders encrusted with bryozoans, small barnacles, sponges and ascidians. N. violacea preys on these. Feeds mainly carnivorous.

Endemic to New Zealand.
