Pododesmus macrochisma (Deshayes, 1839)

Pododesmus macrochisma has circular valves. The upper is larger and heavier, with fine radiating ribs.The delicate lower valve has an oval hole, through which a thick byssus extends to permanently attach the animal to a hard substrate.
